Lambent Server · version 0.1.0
Watch your own library on Vision Pro, from your Mac.
Lambent Server watches the video folders you choose on your Mac and streams them to Lambent on Apple Vision Pro over your local network — newest first, multipart videos as one title, resuming where you stopped.

Get started
- Install. Open the DMG, drag Lambent Server to Applications, and open it.
- Allow access. macOS asks to allow incoming connections, and on macOS 15 and later it also asks for Local Network access. Allow both so your headset can find and reach your Mac.
- Add ffmpeg. Install it with
brew install ffmpeg. The app finds standard Homebrew and MacPorts installs on its own; otherwise set the path in Settings. - Add folders. In the app, add the folders holding your video. Open Lambent on your Vision Pro on the same network — your Mac shows up among the servers it finds nearby. Add it, and your library appears, newest first.
Frequently asked questions
- Do I need ffmpeg?
- Yes. ffmpeg prepares files your headset can’t play directly and makes thumbnails. Install it with
brew install ffmpeg. If the app can’t find it, open Settings and set the path yourself. - Why does macOS ask about the local network?
- The headset finds your Mac by announcing on your local network, and streams from it over a local connection. Both prompts — incoming connections and (on macOS 15+) Local Network — are needed for that to work. If you denied either, the Transport/Diagnostics panel in the app opens the right System Settings panes to fix it.
- Do Intel Macs work?
- No, this release is Apple silicon only.
- Is “Enhance on PC” available?
- No — not in this release, on Mac or on Windows. “Enhance on PC” (live upscaling of the picture on the computer) is planned for Windows PCs with an NVIDIA RTX GPU in a later release. Until then, use “Enhance on headset”, which runs on Vision Pro. (Apple silicon’s video encoder tops out at around 30 frames per second at 8K, and live 8K enhancement needs 60, so the Mac can’t host it.) The headset app hides the PC option on its own when connected to a Mac.
- Is it on the Mac App Store?
- No. Lambent Server for Mac is downloaded from this website, signed and notarized by Apple.
- How do I update?
- There is no auto-update in this release. Download the new version from this page and replace the app in Applications; your folders and settings stay as they are.
