Lambent Server 0.3.0 for Mac
Lambent Server for Mac now serves every screen in your home, with an enhanced picture made on your Mac.
What’s new
- Lambent Server now serves TVs, phones and tablets as well as Apple Vision Pro, and it can use an existing Plex library.
- Lambent Enhance: AI upscaling and HDR from your Mac for every screen, 2D to 3D and Depth Ease on the headset, with a free trial. Without it, titles play at their original quality.
- The Mac’s own enhancer now makes the upscaled, HDR picture, using the Neural Engine and VideoToolbox.
- Titles can be saved to a device for offline viewing.
- A device can be paired to watch away from home.
- FFmpeg now comes with the app, so there’s nothing else to install.
Requirements
- macOS 13 or later on an Apple silicon Mac. Intel Macs are not supported in this release.
- Your screens and the Mac on the same local network. For best results, connect the Mac over Ethernet and a headset over 5 or 6 GHz Wi-Fi.
- FFmpeg 8.1 is included under the GNU LGPL v2.1 or later, built unmodified from its source. To use your own copy, set its path in Settings.
Install
- Download
LambentServer-0.3.0-arm64.dmgfrom the download page. - Open the DMG and drag Lambent Server to Applications.
- Open Lambent Server from Applications.
- On first launch, macOS asks to allow incoming connections, and on macOS 15 and later it also asks for Local Network access. Allow both: your screens need them to find and reach your Mac. If you denied either, open the Transport/Diagnostics panel in the app — it has buttons that open the right System Settings panes.
Verify the download
In Terminal, from the folder containing the DMG:
shasum -a 256 LambentServer-0.3.0-arm64.dmg
The output should match exactly:

File: LambentServer-0.3.0-arm64.dmg, about 56 MB. The app is Developer ID signed and notarized by Apple, and is distributed from the Lambent website — not the Mac App Store.
Known limitations
- No auto-update in this release. New versions are downloaded and installed manually.
- Logging out may skip saving the last few seconds of library state. Quitting normally is unaffected.
- After waking from sleep, the Mac may not re-announce itself on the network right away. If a screen can’t find it, restart the app.
- Apple silicon only (arm64). Intel Macs are not built.
